I joined the mortgage industry in 1985, starting out as an admin with MGIC, then on to being a processor for the construction department of Security Pacific Mortgage. I have worked at most of the big banks and have experience processing, closing, underwriting, and have managed all of these positions on a local and regional level. Throughout this all, I have also served as a regional community development manager working with nonprofits to help first-time homebuyers and low-to-moderate income families afford their homes.

As a loan officer, I am not alone. I have an assistant and a processor to back me up. I work with my clients 1:1, assisting them through the pre-approval process, helping them understand the cost of doing a loan, what the payments look like, making sure the payments are within their comfort zone and helping them get the pre-approval letters out with their offer. I am also a documentation gatherer. I have constant communication with everyone, on both sides of a transaction, so we are all on the same page. It is my #1 goal to make the process smooth and as stress-free as possible. I help my clients work through any obstacles concerning credit or documentation that we need to meet the underwriting and investor requirements. I am an educator so I work really hard to explain to my clients and agents why we need something so it makes sense to them. I never just tell someone to get something without explaining why we need it. If the borrower knows why we need specific information or documentation, they are a lot more comfortable providing it.

My education and experience have shown me the importance of working hard, and relentlessly digging to discover the answers when tough questions come up. I understand from personal experience how important having a home is when you have a family, the security and comfort it brings you knowing you have invested in your future and provided stability for your children. I like to help people become more successful, whether it is helping them get into a home or helping them improve in some way. Maybe this is the reason why much of my business comes from past clients. They send me their friends and family to buy homes, and that’s when I know they truly trust and appreciate me. I love working with all buyers, whether it’s a first-time homebuyer or someone purchasing their 4th or 5th home. I have found that people going through a divorce sometimes need as much help as if they were buying for the first time. It is a tough life change when families decide to separate and members are forced to refinance their home or sell it and buy another on their own. I’m always there to hold their hands through the process. I know this is an extremely stressful time in their lives.

When not at work, I enjoy kickboxing, kayaking, and gardening. An animal lover, I actively work to help shelters find homes for rescue animals. My passion can be summed up in that I help animals and people find their home.’ I have also donated my time to the Children’s Cancer Association, Habitat for Humanity, Reach Development, Portland Community Reinvestment Initiatives, Portland Housing Center and have assisted Portland Youth Builders with their annual fundraiser for over 4 years.
